Cultural commemorations mark upcoming September 11 anniversary

Various cultural commemorations are being prepared to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

CNN Films and TIME Studios have announced a documentary short titled ‘Top of the World’, which explores the history of the Windows on the World restaurant located in the World Trade Center. The film features interviews with former employees and culinary experts, tracing the restaurant's evolution into a New York icon before its destruction in 2001. The documentary is scheduled to air on CNN on September 7, 2026, following a limited theatrical run in New York.

In Berlin, the CAMERA WORK gallery is hosting a group exhibition titled ‘Never Forget: September 11, 2001’. The exhibition features approximately 40 works from 14 photographers, including Elliott Erwitt, Steve McCurry, and Pete Souza. The collection presents diverse perspectives on New York City, contrasting images of the metropolis before the attacks with documentary and staged works capturing the events and their aftermath.
