Cultural developments in Congo: Téké community leadership and international art representation

The Téké Community of Mfoa held its inaugural general assembly in Mpila, Brazzaville, to revitalize its leadership and preserve its cultural heritage. Led by President Aristide Mampouya, the assembly established new governing bodies, including a committee of notables, a council of sages, and a national executive bureau with Léonard Hyppolite Malonga serving as vice-president. The event included representatives from the Mbé Royal Court, emphasizing the importance of unity and the preservation of the Téké language and Republican principles.

In the arts, Congolese painter Baba Tshikama will represent the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the 6th edition of the International Painting Encounters of Ouagadougou (RIPO) in Burkina Faso. Running from September 18 to 28, 2026, the event will host artists from 18 countries. Tshikama, whose work is influenced by post-impressionist divisionism, will participate in exhibitions and workshops centered on the theme of art facing global challenges and digital ecosystem mutations.
