Cultural developments in Italy: Chess tour and religious network expansion

The chess tour ‘Re e Regine in sette comuni’, organized by the group ‘Rooked on the Mountains’ in the Appennino Reggiano, is approaching its final stages. Following successful stops in Carpineti, Casina, Vetto, Ligonchio, and Primaore, the circuit will hold its sixth stage in Quara di Toano on September 5, 2026, featuring a rapid tournament.

The grand finale is scheduled for September 20, 2026, in Felina. This final event will host the first ‘Fischer Random – Chess 960’ variant tournament in the province of Reggio Emilia.

In another cultural development, the ‘Rete delle Sette Madonne’ (Network of the Seven Madonnas) is expanding. The municipality of Maiori has expressed its intention to join the network, which was originally promoted by Mercogliano. This addition integrates the cultural and religious heritage of the Madonna dell’Avvocata into the existing network of pilgrimage and popular culture sites.
