Cultural developments in Mérida and Guanajuato

A new large-scale cultural venue, the Teatro de la Ciudad, is currently under construction in Itzimná, Mérida. With an investment exceeding 100 million pesos, the facility is expected to open in 2027. The theater will have a capacity for 1,100 spectators, including a mezzanine for 350 people, and features a 14 by 10 meter stage equipped with specialized acoustics, lighting, and technical infrastructure designed for local and international productions.

In Guanajuato, the Teatro Juárez will serve as a primary venue for the 54th Cervantino International Festival (FIC). The festival's programming includes diverse musical offerings, such as the German ensemble Ensemble Modern, which specializes in contemporary music and experimental collaborations, and the French choral group Les Métaboles, led by Léo Waryński.
