Cultural events and traditions highlighted in Spanish theater and gastronomy
Cultural events are taking place across various venues in Spain. In Torrelavega, the Teatro Municipal Concha Espina will host ‘El bosque mágico del Trasgu’ on August 28. This musical comedy, performed by the Orquesta y Coro Juvenil Halane, uses live music and theater to present Cantabrian mythology, featuring creatures such as the Trasgu and the Anjana.
Additionally, the Cofradía del Hojaldre de Torrelavega held its 25th Grand Chapter at the Concha Espina Theater to honor its founder, Francisco Javier López Marcano. The event, part of the Fiestas de la Virgen Grande 2026, celebrated the promotion of local pastry traditions and included musical performances and institutional tributes.
In another cultural development, the Teatro Fernán-Gómez will open its season with ‘El retablo de las maravillas’ by the company Els Joglars. The production is a contemporary variation on a theme by Cervantes. To mark their 65th anniversary, Els Joglars is also presenting a free traveling exhibition detailing their 42 theatrical productions.
