Cultural events celebrate women's rights and visibility in Mexico and Spain

In Mexico City, the UTOPÍA Elena Poniatowska Amor will host the “Encuentro Lesbianas fuera de la norma” from October 13 to 17. Organized by the Mexico City Ministry of Culture, the event commemorates Lesbian Rebellion Day. The program includes workshops, cinema, music, and dialogue sessions designed to recognize the cultural contributions of lesbian women and foster community exchange. Specific activities include an erotic narrative workshop led by writer Artemisa Téllez.

In Spain, the province of Ciudad Real is hosting a week of music and art from October 13 to 18 to mark International Rural Women's Day on October 15. The initiative, which includes municipalities such as Herencia, Bolaños de Calatrava, and Almagro, aims to highlight female talent in rural areas. The programming features workshops and concerts, including performances by guitarist Silvia Nogales Barrios, Loli Calvo, and Covadonga Calderón, supported by the Ministry of Equality and the Castilla-La Mancha Theater Network.
