Cultural events debut in Salvador, Bahia
Salvador is hosting two distinct cultural productions this October. The contemporary dance solo “Quando a Folha Dança,” created and performed by Arapiun indigenous artist Rô Colares, has begun its fourth season in Bahia. The performance explores themes of ancestry, identity, and territory, tracing the creator's connection to the Arapiun indigenous lands in Pará. The program includes workshops at the Federal University of Bahia and public performances in Salvador and at the Coroa Vermelha Village in Santa Cruz Cabrália.
Simultaneously, Circo Portugal Internacional has returned to Salvador after a 15-year absence. Located on Avenida Paralela, the circus production has reported sold-out sessions during its opening weekend. The show features a mix of traditional circus acts, such as the “Globe of Death,” and modern attractions, including a large-scale magic show from Las Vegas and high-tech performances. The circus utilizes a large-scale, climate-controlled structure to accommodate its various international and classic acts.
