Cultural events draw crowds in Mercallo and Vimercate
In Mercallo, artist Andrea Ravo Mattoni is creating a mural of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Lady with an Ermine” on a private wall overlooking Piazza della Croce. The project is part of a broader urban redevelopment plan for the area, including a recently inaugurated parking lot. Mayor Andrea Tessarolo noted that the administration worked extensively to secure the artist and the necessary resources. The official inauguration of the mural is scheduled for November 4.
In Vimercate, the exhibition of Raphael’s “Lady with a Unicorn” at the MUST museum has attracted over 3,000 visitors during its first weekend. While the local administration is using the event to drive economic activity through specialized tourist maps for local shops and restaurants, the city faces ongoing commercial challenges. Confcommercio has raised alarms regarding the high number of vacant storefronts in Vimercate and surrounding municipalities, prompting an urgent meeting with local leaders to discuss initiatives to revitalize the commercial sector.
