Cultural events explore literature, science, and history

A series of cultural events will explore the intersections of literature, science, and history. One event, titled ‘The Universe of Borges’, commemorates the 40th anniversary of Jorge Luis Borges' death. The program aims to examine the links between his literary works and concepts in physics, mathematics, and philosophy, specifically focusing on themes such as infinity, chance, time, and spatial dimensions.

Participants include Gastón Giribet, Guillermo Martínez, Alberto Rojo, and Silvia Hopenhayn. Topics will range from the fourth dimension of space and the concept of the ‘Library of Babel’ to the nature of infinity and the perception of time. The event is designed for a general audience.

Additionally, a dialogue titled ‘Imagined Territories: Maps, Art, and Literature’ will feature historians Roger Chartier and José Emilio Burucúa. The discussion will explore world history through the lenses of texts, cartography, and art, bringing together perspectives from the history of reading and art history.
