Cultural events held at Teatro Libero and Teatro Cilea in Italy
The Fondazione Teatro Libero in Palermo has reopened with a production titled ‘Giulio Cesare o la notte della Repubblica’. Written by Marco Lorenzi and Lorenzo De Iacovo, the play uses the historical figure of Julius Caesar to explore contemporary themes of power, freedom, and democracy. The performance features six actors and aims to draw parallels between the political realities of the Roman era and modern social and human landscapes.
In Naples, actor Giacomo Rizzo celebrated 80 years of stage career at the Teatro Cilea. During a three-and-a-half-hour performance involving storytelling and music, Rizzo reflected on his career which began at age seven. The event included musical accompaniment by Ciro Cascino and covered various milestones of Rizzo's life, including his early performances, his connections to figures like Peppino di Capri, and his work in the ‘sceneggiata’ genre.
