Cultural events held in Bad Weißenstadt and Darmstadt

The 13th Mining History Days took place in Bad Weißenstadt am See on October 10 and 11, 2026. The event focused on the mining history and industrial heritage of the Fichtel Mountains and surrounding regions. The program included various expert lectures covering topics such as the transformation of mines into visitor attractions, the development of tin ore mines, and historical mining freedoms from 1606.

In Darmstadt, the Weitsicht Festival 2026 is scheduled from October 30 to November 1, 2026, at the darmstadtium. The festival features travel photographers and adventurers sharing reports from locations ranging from the Himalayas to the polar seas. The opening presentation by photographer Manuel Bauer will feature an intimate portrait of the Dalai Lama, titled ‘90 Jahre Dalai Lama – 35 Jahre Fotografie’. Other scheduled speakers include modern nomad Tamar Valkenier, nature photographer Klaus Echle, author Lotta Lubkoll, and Middle East expert Lutz Jäkel.
