Lullusfest begins in Bad Hersfeld with traditional parade

The Lullusfest, recognized as Germany’s oldest folk festival, has commenced in Bad Hersfeld. This year’s celebration is held under the theme “Bad Hersfeld feiert Geburtstag,” marking several anniversaries, including 75 years of the Bad Hersfeld Festival and 100 years of the office of the Fire Master.

The festivities began with the traditional Lollsmontag parade, featuring 56 groups and decorated floats that drew thousands of spectators to the city center. Organizers expect approximately 500,000 visitors over the eight-day event, which includes various rides, food stalls, and a Ferris wheel.
