Cultural events highlight documentary and photography in Italy

Italy is hosting several cultural initiatives focused on documentary filmmaking and photography. From October 29 to November 15, Castrovillari and the University of Calabria will host the Vittorio De Seta International Ethnographic Documentary Festival. The event honors the legacy of the late Italian filmmaker, known for his cinematic research into the lives of Southern Italian communities, including fishermen, miners, and farmers.

Additionally, the “Geografie dello Sguardo” series, promoted by the Mosso Piceno association, will feature award-winning documentary photographer Antonio Faccilongo. An upcoming meeting in Centobuchi will explore Faccilongo’s work, which addresses social themes such as family, identity, and the human consequences of war. Faccilongo is a recipient of the World Press Photo Story of the Year.
