Cultural events in Catalonia highlight dance and literature

Various cultural events are taking place in Catalonia, highlighting literature and performing arts. At the Josep Salceda i Castells Municipal Library, the IBY company presented ‘Agatha (desaparició d'un solo)’, a contemporary dance piece inspired by the disappearance of English author Agatha Christie. The performance was part of the ‘Balla'm un llibre’ cycle, an initiative by the Association of Dance Professionals of Catalonia and the Generalitat to promote dance through libraries.

In Cerdanyola del Vallès, a cultural program is underway to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the death of poet and playwright Federico García Lorca. The program, which runs through November, includes recitals, music, theater, flamenco, and exhibitions. The cycle began with a dramatized reading of ‘Como canta una ciudad’, and will continue with musical recitals featuring works such as ‘Poema del cante jondo’ and ‘Bodas de sangre’ to honor Lorca’s enduring literary legacy.
