Cultural events in Iceland: Korda Samfónía album and Hafnarfjörður festival

In Iceland, several cultural events are highlighted. The Korda Samfónía orchestra, led by Sigrún Sævarsdóttir Griffiths, has released a new album titled ‘Ný vídd’. The ensemble is a non-profit, community-based group consisting of 30 to 45 members, including professional musicians, university students, and individuals in rehabilitation. The album features live recordings from concerts held in Silfurberg in 2024 and 2025, blending new compositions with older works.

Additionally, the ‘Heimar og himingeimar’ costume and gaming festival is scheduled for September 4–6 in Hafnarfjörður. Organized by the Hafnarfjörður Library, the event will host thirty workshops and five themed worlds. Activities include lightsaber training, armor making, cosplay, and various musical performances. The festival aims to promote positive play and celebrates diverse interests ranging from fantasy and historical reenactment to Japanese cosplay.
