Cultural events in Italy address the impact of the Gaza war

Cultural events in Italy are addressing the humanitarian and psychological impacts of the war in Gaza through various media. In Padova, the event ‘La rosa di Gaza’ will feature poetry, music, and testimonies. Palestinian physician and poet Salim El Maoued will discuss the necessity of healing both physical and psychological trauma caused by violence, while Cuban writer Yuleisy Cruz Lezcano will contribute perspectives on the humanitarian crisis in Cuba.

In Novi Ligure, the Multisala Moderno will host screenings of ‘Naza’, a documentary directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. The film, which received a Special Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival, utilizes anonymous testimonies from within the Israeli military and intelligence apparatus. It investigates the use of surveillance technology and artificial intelligence in target selection, specifically examining the military acronym ‘NAZA’, which refers to the estimated number of civilian casualties during an airstrike.
