Cultural events in Italy focus on historical memory and legality

In Bisceglie, author Vincenzo Calò will present his novel “Cuore partigiano. I perché di una scelta ancora attuale” on September 25 at the Vecchie Segherie Mastrototaro bookstore. The historical narrative follows Ferdinando, a student in 1942 Rome who joins the clandestine Action Party driven by anti-fascism and the loss of a Jewish classmate. The event, organized alongside ANPI and Sinistra Italiana, features a dialogue with Senator Luigi Marino and other local figures to discuss the values of memory and civil engagement.

In Gemonio, an event titled “Nel nome della memoria e dell’impegno” is scheduled for September 24. The evening will feature Don Maurizio Patriciello, the parish priest of Caivano, focusing on themes of legality and justice. The gathering takes place at the Dante Alighieri middle school, a site recently honored with a plaque dedicated to Giuseppe Di Matteo, a young Sicilian victim of the mafia. The initiative aims to foster reflection on legality among students and the local community.
