Cutro shipwreck documentary to hold screenings in Cuneo province

The documentary film ‘Cutro, 94… and more’, directed by Angelo Resta, is scheduled for screenings in the province of Cuneo. The film, based on an idea by Vincenzo Montalcini, focuses on the shipwreck of the vessel ‘Summer Love’ that occurred off the coast of Calabria on February 26, 2023.

The documentary reconstructs the events of the night, which resulted in 94 confirmed victims, including 35 minors. It incorporates direct testimonies from first responders, journalists, and family members to address the human impact of the tragedy.

Screenings will take place on September 17 and 18 in Cuneo, Saluzzo, and Mondovì, with the director in attendance. The initiative also includes an exhibition of the ‘Lenzuoli della Memoria Migrante’ (Migrant Memory Sheets). This cultural event occurs amidst ongoing judicial proceedings regarding the incident, including a trial involving members of the Coast Guard and Finance Guard.
