PNV leaders demand respect for Basque self-government at 50th Alderdi Eguna

The Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) celebrated its 50th Alderdi Eguna at the Foronda meadows, bringing together various generations of the party under the slogan ‘Alderdia bizi’.

During the event, Lehendakari Imanol Pradales addressed the assembly, emphasizing the importance of self-government and the Statute of Gernika. Pradales noted that the implementation of the Statute remains unfinished and warned Spanish President Pedro Sánchez that self-government is not a bargaining chip. He stated, “The Basque people value the pact and the given word, but if there is something they do not accept, it is that it be played with.”

Other party figures, including Donostia Mayor Jon Insausti and Leioa Mayor Iban Rodríguez Etxebarria, spoke about the party's future and its role as a central axis in the region. The gathering also included representatives from the Sahrawi people.
