Cultural events regarding Palestine face censorship and debate in Peru and Argentina
In Peru, the Ministry of Culture intervened to prevent the screening of the Palestinian film ‘Revolutionaries Never Die’ by Mohanad Yaqubi at the Lugar de la Memoria, la Tolerancia y la Inclusión Social (LUM). The decision, made during the Lima Alterna Festival, was reportedly intended to avoid affecting diplomatic relations with Israel, an act described by critics as cultural censorship.
In Argentina, political groups Partido Obrero and Tribuna Docente have organized a film debate in Cutral Co. The event, held at the Centro Político y Cultural Francisco Pellazza, features the documentary ‘Hijas de la Nakba: Voces de mujeres palestinas’. The session aims to provide a space for critical reflection on the intensification of the armed conflict in the Middle East and the roles of Zionism and United States military and diplomatic intervention.
