International dance festivals arrive in Mexico and Dominican Republic

Various international dance and performing arts events are taking place across Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

In Mexico, the contemporary dance piece ‘Qwerin’, created and directed by Welsh choreographer Osian Meilir, is making its debut. The work, which reinterprets Welsh dance traditions through a queer lens, is being presented in collaboration with the British Council as part of the 54th Cervantino International Festival and the Cervantino Circuit. Performances are scheduled for October 4 at the Jardín Escénico in Mexico City.

In the Dominican Republic, the International Contemporary Dance Festival (EDANCO) is entering its final stages. The festival has featured national and international artists, including the American company Gaspard&Dancers. The event concludes on October 4 with performances by Danza Joven at the Sala Manuel Rueda, following a charity gala involving the National Contemporary Dance Company of the Dominican Republic and performers from Costa Rica.
