Cultural exhibitions announced at Kadokawa Musashino Museum and Kyoto Seika University

The Kadokawa Musashino Museum in Tokorozawa will host the exhibition ‘Watashi o sukuu: Essay Manga no Shohousen-ten’ (The Prescription of Essay Manga that Saves Me) from September 18, 2026, to January 11, 2027. The event features approximately 400 items, including original drawings and digital panels from 27 prominent artists such as Momoko Sakura, Ryoko Yamagishi, and Rieko Saibara. The exhibition explores the history and evolution of the essay manga genre, from its roots in 1970s shojo manga to its modern presence on social media and blogs.

Separately, Kyoto Seika University’s Gallery Terra-S is hosting a group exhibition titled ‘Tonari no Hito’ (The Person Next Door). Organized by eight students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Humanities, the exhibition features diverse works including two-dimensional art, three-dimensional installations, video, and sound. The project focused on the collaborative process between different academic disciplines, challenging students to reconsider traditional exhibition management and the roles of contributors.
