Cultural exhibitions feature Charlotte Perriand and Joan Fontcuberta

The Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona is hosting 'Charlotte Perriand: The Freedom to Rethink the World,' the first major retrospective of the designer (1903–1999) in Spain. The exhibition, which runs until February 28, is supported by Cassina, the only company authorized to manufacture Perriand's furniture. Jacques Barsac, the designer's son-in-law and official biographer, provides insights into her life and work.

In Asturias, National Photography Prize winner Joan Fontcuberta will debut in a local gallery with his exhibition 'Orquídeas y macarras' (Orchids and Punks). Held at the Aurora Vigil-Escalera gallery in Gijón from October 23 to November 27, the show features diptychs pairing individuals with punk or underground aesthetics against close-ups of unusual orchids. The series explores the boundaries between the sublime and the grotesque, utilizing artificial intelligence to challenge the viewer's perception of visual truth by mixing real photographs with fabricated ones.
