Cultural exhibitions feature Yoko Ono and Neslihan Yetişkin

Ecological artist Neslihan Yetişkin is set to present her new exhibition, ‘Aidiyet Bahçesi’ (Garden of Belonging), at Bozcaada Itırlı Bahçe from September 1–15, 2026. The exhibition explores the relationship between humans and concepts of place, home, memory, and belonging, drawing parallels between human migration and the way plants take root in new soils.

Yetişkin utilizes natural materials and techniques, including beeswax batik and natural dyeing, to transform linen fabrics and various surfaces using substances like black carrots, oak galls, and rust. Her practice was influenced by a personal allergy to chemical dyes, leading her to research ancient Anatolian dyeing recipes and integrate them into contemporary art.

In another cultural development, the Sabancı Museum is hosting an exhibition dedicated to Yoko Ono. The exhibition highlights her role in the avant-garde art movement and the Fluxus movement, while addressing historical misconceptions regarding her influence on music and her relationship with John Lennon. It explores her journey from an aristocratic upbringing in Japan to becoming a central figure in the New York avant-garde scene.
