Cultural exhibitions open in Padova and Gemona

Palazzo Zabarella in Padova has launched a major monographic exhibition dedicated to Max Pechstein, a prominent figure of German Expressionism. The collection features over 120 works, including paintings, graphics, sketches, and letters, provided by the Zwickau Museum, the Pechstein Foundation, and the artist's family.

The exhibition highlights Pechstein's unique approach to Expressionism, focusing on warmer tones and a connection to nature inspired by his travels to the Baltic, Paris, and Italy. The display also addresses his experiences during the Great War and his designation as a practitioner of “degenerate art” by the Nazi regime.

In Gemona, the exhibition “L'Orcolat e il Friuli, il terremoto e il presepe” has concluded the local 1976 commemorative initiatives at Palazzo Elti. The event connects the theme of the Nativity with the reconstruction efforts following the Friuli earthquake. It features over 300 photographs of Gemona, Artegna, and Venzone, alongside 30 works by Italian master nativity scene artists.
