Cultural and academic milestones highlighted in Romania and Moldova
Various cultural and academic events are taking place across Romania and Moldova. In academia, Professor Éva Bányai from the University of Bucharest received the Lotz János Commemorative Medal at the IX International Congress of Hungarian Studies in Miskolc for her contributions to Hungarian studies.
In the arts, several exhibitions have been announced or are underway. Romanian painter Adrian Ghenie is presenting a new exhibition in Rome focusing on his relationship with the city's landscape and memory. In Cluj-Napoca, the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania is hosting a major exhibition of African masks from Alin Samochiș's collection, while the ARTIMAGE Association celebrates 20 years of photographic art with an anniversary salon in Bistrița-Năsăud.
Other notable events include Petru Rîlschi's personal painting and graphics exhibition, ‘City with the Aroma of Coffee’, in Chișinău, and an ethnographic photography exhibition titled ‘Banat People in Their Traditional Costumes’ in Timișoara. Additionally, a sensory art installation titled ‘Caffé Mozaic Mundi’ is opening in Bucharest to explore cultural heritage through non-visual perception, and a literary gathering was held at the Village Museum in Baia Mare.
