Cultural exhibitions open in Užice and Nova Gradiška

Cultural institutions in Serbia and Croatia have opened new exhibitions highlighting regional history and art.

In Užice, Serbia, the City Gallery is hosting an exhibition of works by Uroš Predić from the collections of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The display includes 13 oil paintings, 11 drawings, and various illustrations. A central feature of the collection is a series of portraits of prominent scientists and academics from the first half of the 20th century, including Jovan Cvijić and Stojan Novaković, as well as female figures such as Vuka Velimirović and Ksenija Atanasijević.

In Nova Gradiška, Croatia, the City Museum has opened ‘Witnesses of Time: School Chronicles of the Nova Gradiška Region’. The exhibition features 33 handwritten school records preserved in the State Archive in Slavonski Brod. Some of these documents date back to 1830, providing insight into local daily life, teaching methods, and how national historical shifts were reflected in local communities through the 19th and early 20th centuries.
