Cultural exhibits debut in Mexico City and Buenos Aires
In Mexico City, the Ópera Irreverente company presented ‘Elefante: Ópera en espacio mínimo’ at the Teatro Benito Juárez. Directed by Jorge Reza, the production breaks traditional operatic formats by combining singing, acting, and physical expression within a highly restricted space. The story follows six elderly friends in an asylum who use memories and conversations to construct different versions of reality. By limiting the cast to a small rug, the production relies on vocal and physical performance to encourage the audience to use their imagination.
In Buenos Aires, the Centro Cultural Recoleta is hosting ‘Mafalda Inmersiva,’ an immersive exhibition dedicated to the iconic character created by Quino. Spanning 1,300 square meters across 14 rooms, the exhibit uses projections, sculptures, and extended reality to bring the comic strips to life without altering Quino’s original lines. Produced by Damián Kirzner with the approval of Quino’s heirs, the experience includes a multi-user virtual reality room where visitors can hear the characters' voices for the first time.
