Cultural facilities in Ciudad Real face updates and staffing concerns

The Casa de la Cultura in Ciudad Real is scheduled to reopen in the spring of 2027 following extensive remodeling works. Mayor Francisco Cañizares visited the site, noting that the project aims to restore the building designed by architect Miguel Fisac while respecting its original design. The new facility will include a study room, an exhibition hall, and a dedicated space honoring Fisac, which is expected to alleviate pressure on the Antiguo Casino.

Separately, the CCOO union has denounced the precarious working conditions at the National Museum of Performing Arts in Almagro. The union reports that staffing shortages, exacerbated by the dismissal of workers in May, have left the museum vulnerable during peak summer tourism and the International Classical Theatre Festival. During certain weekends in August and September, a single worker was reportedly responsible for opening the museum, public service, incident management, and logistical support.
