Yahya Bedirhan Pak creates AI-powered isometric map of Istanbul
Software engineer Yahya Bedirhan Pak has developed “Isometric Istanbul,” a technological project that uses artificial intelligence to recreate the city of Istanbul in a detailed, three-dimensional isometric map. The project integrates both the European and Asian sides of the city into a single, zoomable interface.
By utilizing open data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Pak processed thousands of images to render buildings, streets, and historical landmarks such as the Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower, and the Bosphorus Bridge in a stylized, miniature-like view. The map allows users to explore the city street by street and includes preset locations for major landmarks, stadiums, and universities.
The non-commercial project gained significant attention on social media, with over 1,500 simultaneous visitors to the website following its announcement on X. The platform supports both Turkish and English and allows users to save views as postcards or print formats.
