Cultural festivals and free mountain access announced in Spain and Andorra

The 28th edition of the Orgues de Ponent i del Pirineu festival begins this Sunday in Verdú, Spain. The inaugural concert at the Santa Maria de Verdú church features Laia Magrí on bassoon and Joan Cabó on organ, performing works by Bach, Vivaldi, Fasch, and Anselm Viola i Valentí.

Under the theme ‘Patrimoni Sonor’, the festival will offer 18 free concerts between September 6 and December 28. The program aims to highlight historical organs as living cultural heritage across various municipalities, connecting the Lleida plain with the Pyrenees valleys. Performances will include diverse formats such as choral groups, chamber ensembles, and soloists.

In Andorra, Ordino Arcalís and Grandvalira are celebrating Meritxell Day on September 8 by offering free access to several mountain attractions. This includes the Tristaina Solar Lookout and the Funicamp. At Ordino Arcalís, visitors with dining reservations in the Ordino parish can access the Tristaina cable car and Creussansa chairlift for free. Grandvalira’s Funicamp will also provide free access throughout the day, marking its final day of summer season operations.
