Czech Republic hosts various cultural and religious festivals
Various cultural and religious festivals are taking place across the Czech Republic, many centered around the feast of St. Wenceslas.
In Prague, the Archaion Kallos international Orthodox music festival focuses on Byzantine chant and folk music from the former Byzantine Empire, including traditions from Thessaloniki, Cyprus, and Crete. The program includes liturgical services, workshops, and icon exhibitions.
In Šumava, the 20th anniversary of the Monastery Music Festivals concludes with a performance of the St. Wenceslas Mass by the Czech Ensemble Baroque Orchestra and Silentium Ensemble, commemorating the legacy of Baroque composer Adam Václav Michna z Otradovic.
Regional celebrations include the St. Wenceslas festivities in Kutná Hora, featuring traditional folk festivities, and similar celebrations in Planá nad Lužnicí, which include a St. Wenceslas procession, Moravian music, and historical reenactments. Other local activities include a book swap in Prague, a kite festival in Soběslav, and a charity bazaar in Brno.
