Cultural festivals and theater seasons launch in Slovakia
The Podvihorlat Folklore Festival is scheduled to take place in Snina on September 3–4, 2026. The event will feature a live crafts alley where visitors can observe artisans and purchase handmade goods, as well as a traditional costume courtyard. A new initiative, ‘What Did My Grandmother Cook?’, invites the public to share ancestral recipes to create a collective regional collection. To improve the festival experience, a second stage will host local bands during breaks from the main stage, accompanied by a dedicated gastro zone.
Mestské divadlo Žilina is launching its 35th theatrical season this September, introducing a two-season program titled ‘New Reading of the World’. The upcoming schedule includes a concert by the vocal group Fragile on September 4, a production of Anna Karenina, and an original play about Coco Chanel. Additionally, the theater will host a monodrama titled ‘Judáš’ at Kaštieľa Ladce on September 4.
