Cultural festivals announced for Côte d’Ivoire and Togo

The 4th edition of the National Traditional Games Festival (FNJT) is scheduled to take place in Daloa, Côte d’Ivoire, on October 2 and 3, 2026. Under the theme ‘Traditional games and youth: transmitting our values and bringing generations together,’ the event will feature various regional delegations participating in competitions and demonstrations of traditional games such as Awalé, Fohr, Kpê, Guiot, and Namboltchan.

Organizers aim to use these games to promote social values including solidarity, respect for elders, and teamwork. The festival is presided over by Siandou Fofana, Minister of Tourism and Leisure, and co-sponsored by the ministers of Youth and Culture.

In Togo, the 7th edition of the Festival des Musiques du Togo (FEMU’TO) has been rescheduled. Originally planned for late October, the event will now be held from December 23 to 27, 2026, in Lomé and Kara. The postponement is due to adjustments in the school calendar to better accommodate students and families. The festival’s theme is ‘Music, instrument of peace and social cohesion,’ focusing on using musical creation to promote dialogue and cultural heritage.
