Cultural festivals announced for Gongju and Yeongju
South Korean cities Gongju and Yeongju are preparing for upcoming cultural events. The 2026 Geumgang Nature Art Biennale will take place in Gongju from September 12 to November 8. The event, themed ‘Urban Nature Art – Please Cast Sunlight on My Window’, aims to explore the relationship between humans and nature within urban spaces. The 12th edition features 31 teams from 17 countries in main exhibitions, alongside a special ‘Nature Art Cube Exhibition’ involving 280 artists from 48 countries. Activities include academic seminars, educational programs, and exhibitions centered around the old Gongju Brewery and Jemincheon.
In Yeongju, the ‘2026 Yeongju Old Downtown Night Tour’ is scheduled for four days across September 25–26 and October 3–4. The program offers guided walks through historical and cultural sites such as Husaeng Market, Gwan-sa-gol, and Buyongdae. Participants can engage in local experiences, including traditional rice cake making and tasting Yeongju Hanwoo beef. The event is designed to revitalize the local economy by showcasing the region's history and night views through performances and themed tours.
