Cultural festivals announced for Ponferrada and Picón

Ponferrada will host two contemporary circus performances as part of the ‘Circo a Escena’ circuit, a program promoted by the Ministry of Culture. On September 1, the company Spinish Circo will perform ‘Fins al Cel’ at the Espacio Luis del Olmo during the Sin Red Festival. The 25-minute show incorporates live music, Russian bars, and collective carries to explore themes of identity and diversity.

In October, the Sala Río Selmo will host ‘Gota’ by artist Txema Muñoz. This award-winning production, recognized as Best Street Spectacle at FETÉN 2026, combines magic, gestural clowning, and visual theater. The ‘Circo a Escena’ circuit is coordinated by the Spanish Network of Theaters, Auditoriums, Circuits, and Public Festivals in collaboration with CircoRed.

Additionally, the municipality of Picón is launching ‘Piconesía,’ a new festival dedicated to poetry, music, and the arts. Scheduled for September 26, 2026, the event aims to transform the town's streets and plazas into a participatory cultural stage. The program includes poetic recitals, rapid painting contests, children's workshops, and rural theater, encouraging active involvement from local artists and associations.
