Cultural festivals announced in Madrid and Mexico

A delegation of 200 participants from the Dominican Republic will represent the country in the Cabalgata de la Hispanidad in Madrid on October 4. This marks the nation's fourth consecutive year in the parade. The procession will travel from Plaza de España through Gran Vía to Cibeles, showcasing Dominican music, folklore, and carnival traditions. The parade will feature various groups, including the Guloyas and Diablos Cojuelos, alongside a float inspired by Caribbean landscapes and national symbols such as larimar and tobacco. Visual artist Manuel Montilla and producer Mariasela Álvarez will lead the artistic representation.

In Mexico, the fourth edition of the La Toba International Film Festival is set to begin on October 6 in the municipality of Comondú and the Valle de Santo Domingo community. Actor Enoc Leaño, a primary promoter of the event, noted that the festival continues to grow despite budgetary and logistical challenges. The festival aims to merge cinema with local literature through calls for short films, scripts, and stories. Due to a lack of formal cultural infrastructure in the region, many screenings are held outdoors in public spaces.
