Cultural festivals enliven Portuguese towns of Penela and Serpa

The municipality of Penela organized a weekend of cultural and sporting activities from 17 to 19 July, featuring a dance show titled “Os IRREDUTÍVEIS,” the second anniversary concert of the Centre for Cereal Interpretation, celebrations of the town’s 120‑year history, a football‑7 tournament, reading sessions, a Francesinha food festival and the 50th anniversary of the local folk group.

In the neighbouring municipality of Serpa, officials announced a summer agenda running from July through September that includes weekly “Summer Evenings,” numerous fairs such as the Vila Nova de São Bento and August fairs, the cultural week of Vale de Vargo, the FATOR arts and crafts festival, a cross‑border agro‑livestock fair, a concert by the Regional Traditional Music Association, a motorcycle festival, the Motoclube São Bento birthday celebration and the European Sports Week.
