Cultural festivals in Italy focus on environmentalism and African heritage

Various cultural and social initiatives are scheduled across Italy, focusing on environmental activism and African heritage.

In Afragola, the first edition of ‘Furestier’ Fest’ will take place on September 26 and 27 at Masseria Ferraioli. The self-managed festival aims to connect social and ecological entities in Campania through workshops, independent cinema, music, and debates. The venue, a former property confiscated from the Camorra and returned to the community, serves as a center for agroecology and biodiversity.

Additionally, the 29th edition of ‘Settimana Africana’ will be held from September 26 to October 3 in Fano and Pesaro. Marking the 25th anniversary of the association ‘L’Africa Chiama’, the program includes book presentations by Nogaye Ndiaye on racism and privilege, and a discussion by Valerio Nicolosi and Luciano Benini regarding the link between climate change, conflict, and inequality. The event will also feature the presentation of the ‘Ho l’Africa nel cuore’ award to Hillary Sedu.
