Various cultural festivals are taking place across Greece. At the 69th Philippi Festival, Christos Theodoridis will direct Aeschylus’s ‘The Persians’ at the Ancient Theatre of Philippi on August 22 and 23. The production features Maria Naoupliotou, Dimitris Kataleifos, Anastasis Roilos, and Stavros Svigkos, supported by an 18-member chorus.

On the island of Nisyros, the ‘Hephaestia’ film week, organized by the municipality and directed by Eleni Alexandrakis, runs from August 18 to 24. The program includes six rare films focused on themes of peace and humanity, such as Andrei Tarkovsky’s ‘The Sacrifice,’ with screenings held at the Hephaestus Observatory.

In Samos, the 20th anniversary of the ‘Heraia – Pythagoreia’ Festival will conclude with a series of events from August 18 to 20. The program includes musical tours, a theatrical reenactment of the ancient Heraian festival at the Imbrasos River, and a grand procession of the Heraia on August 20.
