Cultural festivals scheduled for Labor Day and Hispanic Heritage Month

Various cultural and community celebrations are scheduled for the upcoming holiday season in the United States. In Salt Lake City, Utah, Labor Day weekend 2026 will feature several events, including the Chalk Art Festival at The Gateway on September 5 and the Afro Utah Festival at the Salt Lake City Public Library, which celebrates African culture through music, food, and dance. Additionally, Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon will host a Labor Day BBQ on September 7.

In Memphis, Tennessee, the United Festival 2026: Cumbia en el Río will take place on September 13 at Beale Street Landing. Organized by La Prensa Latina to mark its 30th anniversary, the free festival celebrates Hispanic heritage with Latin music, dance, and food. The event will include performances by Olé Studio and DJ Bambino, a children’s art contest, and a burrito eating competition. The evening will feature remarks from local government and the Consulate of Mexico, followed by the traditional Grito de Independencia and a light display on the Hernando de Soto Bridge.
