Tango BA Festival y Mundial 2026 begins in Buenos Aires

The Tango BA Festival y Mundial 2026 has officially commenced in Buenos Aires, marking the world’s largest tango event. Organized by the City Government through the Ministry of Culture, the festival features over 2,000 artists and is scheduled to run until September 2.

Activities are spread across 50 venues and 34 neighborhoods, including iconic locations such as the Teatro Colón, Teatro San Martín, and the Usina del Arte. The program includes approximately 150 concerts, dance exhibitions, classes, milongas, and a product fair.

During the opening ceremony at the Usina del Arte, attended by Mayor Jorge Macri and Culture Minister Gabriela Ricardes, performances included the Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires and the Camerata Argentina de Cuerdas. Popular musicians Abel Pintos and Vicentico also participated. The event also hosts the 24th edition of the World Tango Championship, where approximately 800 couples from 47 countries compete for the title in both Tango de Pista and Tango Escenario categories.
