Cultural festivals to showcase regional heritage in Malaysia

Malaysia will host two significant cultural events aimed at preserving traditional arts and strengthening cross-cultural ties.

On November 7, the Malaysia Dikir Barat 2026 performance will take place at the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur. Organized by Kota Pesta with the support of Yayasan Hasanah, the event features over 10 prominent Dikir Barat figures, including Sabri Yunus and Halim Yazid. The program includes a Dikir Barat Youth Camp for students and a heritage forum to discuss the future of the art form in modern society.

Additionally, the Cultural Exchange Festival: Celebrating Cross-Cultural Heritage 2026 is scheduled for October 31 to November 1 in Melaka. This festival involves participants from six countries: Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Held under the auspices of UNESCO, the event aims to attract 30,000 visitors and will feature traditional performances such as Gamelan, Mak Yong, and Wayang Kulit at the Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum.
