Cultural figures honor Aldir Blanc and Dolly Parton

Musicians are gathering to celebrate the life and work of Brazilian lyricist Aldir Blanc. A special performance titled ‘Aldir Blanc 80 anos: Como Canções e Epidemias’ will take place at Acaso Cultural on August 29. The show features singer Augusto Martins and pianist Paulo Malaguti Pauleira, with a special appearance by composer Moacyr Luz. The repertoire includes classics such as ‘Corsário’ and ‘Caça à Raposa’, as well as the previously unreleased track ‘Muito Além do Jardim’.

In other news, global music icon Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80. Her death was described as unexpected, despite known health issues that had previously led to the postponement and cancellation of some late 2025 concert dates. Parton rose from a childhood of poverty in Tennessee to become a crossover star, successfully bridging the gap between country and pop music throughout her career.
