Cultural figures Josep Maria Mainat and Pepa Arenós in spotlight
Singer and television producer Josep Maria Mainat is celebrating his 80th birthday, using the occasion to reflect on aging and the importance of end-of-life planning. In an appearance on ‘Col·lapse’, Mainat discussed the advantages and disadvantages of reaching this milestone, noting that while he receives positive social feedback, he has also experienced the loss of many loved ones. He promoted his book, ‘Lleuger d’equipatge’, which focuses on preparing one's affairs—including wills and digital assets—to avoid complicating matters for surviving family members.
Separately, the death of actress and activist Pepa Arenós Ardiaca has been reported. With a career spanning over half a century, Arenós worked extensively in theatre, cinema, television, radio, and dubbing. She was a notable figure in the independent Catalan theatre movement during the final years of the Franco regime and maintained a lifelong political and cultural commitment to Catalan independence. Her credits include roles in the television series ‘Ventdelplà’ and films such as ‘El embrujo de Shanghai’.
