Cultural heritage and traditions highlighted in Mexican towns

Various Mexican towns are showcasing unique cultural identities through festivals, music, and historical legacies. In Jalpa de Cánovas, Guanajuato, the first edition of the “Memorias de México Eterno” festival is scheduled for October 31 to celebrate Day of the Dead. The event aims to attract 1,000 attendees and generate 200 direct and indirect jobs for local artisans, cooks, and entrepreneurs.

In Cocula, Jalisco, recognized as a “Pueblo Mágico,” the town celebrates its status as the birthplace of mariachi. The musical tradition, which evolved from a blend of indigenous and European instruments, is preserved in the “De Cocula es el Mariachi” Museum and through weekly performances in the main plaza.

In Chipilo, Puebla, a community maintains deep Italian roots dating back to its founding on October 7, 1882. Established by immigrants from the Veneto region, the town continues to speak a local variant of the Venetian language and produces artisanal Italian goods such as cheeses, cured meats, and gelato.
