Cultural heritage celebrations featured in India and the Philippines
Heritage Stories and Performing Arts (HSPA) is bringing its show, ‘Itihaas Ke Pannon Se’, to Chennai. The production uses various folk art forms to highlight the stories of unsung Tamil freedom fighters. Following successful runs in Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, and Mumbai, the Chennai edition will feature Villu Paatu, an ancient oral folk tradition, to tell the story of a female freedom fighter whose historical contributions have been largely unrecorded. The event also includes oral storytelling regarding the role of Khadi in the independence movement and live musical performances.
In the Philippines, Dairy Queen has launched its limited-edition Sorbetes Fiesta collection in celebration of Buwan ng Wika. The collection features Filipino-inspired flavors, including Ube-st Graham, Klasik Quezo, and Avocashew, designed to evoke nostalgia and celebrate local culture through traditional dessert profiles.
