Cultural heritage celebrations held in Slano and Prizren

In Slano, Croatia, the “Slano je slatko” event was held to celebrate krokanat, a traditional dessert made of caramelized sugar and almonds. Organized by the Heritage of Dubrovnik Coast Public Institution and the Tourist Board of the Dubrovnik Coast Municipality, the event aimed to preserve and promote this gastronomic heritage. A krokanat-making competition took place at the Grand Hotel Admiral, where Ana and Klara Matić emerged as winners among seven competing teams.

In Prizren, the Prizren Art Club and the Association for the Preservation of the Prizren-Timok Dialect “Južna pruga” have announced the First Conference on the Prizren-Timok Dialect. Scheduled for September 27, 2026, the hybrid event will feature presentations conducted exclusively in the local dialect rather than standard Serbian. Under the theme “A Word from My Region,” the conference seeks to document and revitalize local speech, focusing on regional vocabulary, historical linguistic nuances, and the preservation of dialects within modern cultural and media spaces.
