Cultural heritage initiatives expand in Los Ríos and Ñuble regions
Cultural initiatives are expanding access to heritage and traditional skills in Chile. In the Los Ríos Region, the ‘Barrios Culturales’ project—a collaboration between the regional Ministry of Cultures and the Universidad de Los Lagos—has concluded a series of workshops across three communes. These sessions covered diverse topics including medicinal herb gardens, traditional weaving with natural wools, and urban cueca dance, aiming to promote community coexistence and potential entrepreneurship.
In the Ñuble Region, the ‘Museos de Chillán’ project has launched a free digital exhibition titled ‘Museos de Chillán: Patrimonio Cultural y Natural de Ñuble’. This virtual platform provides audiovisual records and historical imagery from several key institutions, such as the Museo Claudio Arrau León and the Museo San Francisco de Chillán. The digital collection, which includes previously unseen footage, will remain accessible to the public throughout 2026 to facilitate the preservation and study of local history.
