Cultural heritage preservation initiatives held in Brazil

Various cultural institutions in Brazil are hosting events focused on the preservation and valuation of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

Unilavras held a discussion titled “Entre Memórias e Saberes: Celebrando o Patrimônio Cultural” to mark Cultural Heritage Day. The event brought together specialists and students to debate the challenges of reconciling historical preservation with modern needs, such as accessibility, safety, and functional adaptation. The program included workshops and a performance by the Congado de Lavras.

In the state of São Paulo, the 1st Meeting of the Intangible Heritage Thematic Network is scheduled for August 31. Part of the “Jornada do Patrimônio 2026” organized by the State Cultural Heritage System (SISEP), the hybrid event aims to strengthen collaborative actions among public managers, researchers, and cultural professionals to safeguard and disseminate intangible heritage across the state.
